The Rising of the Shield Hero

Both The Rising of the Shield Hero and That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime involve protagonists getting transported to a new world, in which they must defend it from invaders or destruction.

Both stories involve the protagonists being underestimated by the society they find themselves in, and they must prove their worth through hard work and dedication.

Moreover, both stories also involve a sense of camaraderie and friendship that is formed as the protagonists travel and fight together.

The primary difference between the two stories lies in the way the protagonists interact with the world they find themselves in.

In the case of The Rising of the Shield Hero, Naofumi Iwatani is a reluctant hero who is forced to protect the world he’s summoned to, while in That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime, Rimuru Tempest actively seeks out ways to make the world a better place.

The Rising of the Shield Hero focuses more heavily on the themes of betrayal and justice, while That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime takes a lighter tone and emphasizes the importance of friendship and camaraderie.

Monster Musume: Everyday Life With Monster Girls

Monster Musume: Everyday Life With Monster Girls! is a harem anime set in a world where humans and mythical creatures coexist, and an exchange program is created to integrate the creatures into human society.

The protagonist, Kurusu Kimihito, is tasked with hosting a group of mythic young ladies in his apartment, including Miia the snake girl, Papi the bird girl, and Centorea the horse lady, among others.

Now, let me just say, this anime is not for the faint-hearted. It’s filled with ecchi scenes, but honestly, it’s more about fun than anything else.

And by fun, I mean monster girl tits! Plus, there are JoJo and Godzilla references that weren’t even in the manga, which was dope. My personal favorite girl is Tio, she’s the best!

What’s cool about Monster Musume is that it shows how different species interact with humans, which is fascinating. But, of course, there are naughty parts too. Like, one of the girls accidentally hits Kurusu with the strength of a boa constrictor. And speaking of the girls, they all fall into typical harem archetypes, but with animal bodies. It’s wild to see how they navigate that in their relationships with Kurusu.

Now, I have to admit, that animal bodies can be a little distracting. Like, where do things even go during intimate moments?

And don’t snakes lay eggs? That makes me wonder what would happen if they had kids…but I digress. It’s all part of the absurdity that makes Monster Musume so entertaining.

The only downside to this anime is that it’s only 12 episodes long. I wish it had been longer so we could see more of these crazy monster girls. Also, there’s no real resolution to anything that happens, which can be a little unsatisfying.

But overall, if you’re looking for a weird, sexually charged, and bizarre anime, Monster Musume is right up your alley. Just be prepared for the monster girl madness!

My Next Life As A Villainess: All Routes Lead To Doom

My Next Life As A Villainess follows the story of Catarina Claes, a young girl who suddenly regains the memories of her past life and realizes that she has been reincarnated as the villainess in a dating sim game called ‘Fortune Lover’.

Destined for doom, she takes it upon herself to alter her fate by using her extensive knowledge of the game.

Catarina begins her quest by attempting to avoid the two possible endings of exile or death. To do this, she must be very careful in order not to set off death flags that may speed up her impending doom.

Through hard work and determination, she strives to make changes that will affect the lives of everyone around her, without setting off any of these flags.

Her journey eventually leads to her discovering a third ending, in which she is able to take control of her own destiny and ultimately changes the game’s outcome.

Catarina is able to avoid the doom that was meant for her and succeeds in becoming the true heroine of the game.

Overlord (2015 – 2018)

Overlord (2015-2018) and That Time I Got Reincarnated As a Slime (2018-2020) are both isekai anime series with a similar concept of being transported to another world.

Both protagonists start out in a virtual reality game, but end up becoming the rulers of their new worlds.

In Overlord, Momonga finds himself stuck in the Yggdrasil game and decides to take control of the world, while in Reincarnated as a Slime, Rimuru is reborn as a slime with special powers and must use them to forge a place for himself in a new world.

However, there are some key differences between the two. In Reincarnated as a Slime, Rimuru is a blank slate without any previous experience or knowledge, while in Overlord Momonga is an experienced gamer who relies on his experience and skills to conquer the world.

The tone of the two series is also different, with Overlord being more dark and violent while Slime is more light-hearted and comedic. In addition, Overlord focuses more on the journey of an anti-hero protagonist, while Slime focuses more on Rimuru’s growth and development as a leader.

So I’m A Spider, So What? (2021)

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime and So I’m A Spider, So What? (2021) share many similarities, as they both feature protagonists who were reincarnated as monsters in a fantasy world.

The main difference is that the protagonist of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime was reincarnated as a slime, while the protagonist of So I’m A Spider, So What? was reincarnated as a spider.

In both shows, the protagonists must use their knowledge of the world they lived in before to help them survive in the new world they find themselves in.

Both anime have a unique spin on the isekai genre, exploring the themes of power, survival and friendship in ways that are unique to them.

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime follows Rimuru as he battles for his life and his companions, while So I’m A Spider, So What? follows Kumoko as she learns about her powers and finds her place in the world.

Both anime also embrace the more comedic aspects of the genre, with Rimuru’s jokes and pranks and Kumoko’s pop culture references and fourth-wall breaking.

Overall, both That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime and So I’m A Spider, So What? are excellent isekai anime, each with its own unique take on the genre.

The similarities between the two shows make them both must-see anime that explore the genre in new and exciting ways.

How Not To Summon A Demon Lord (2018)

How Not to Summon a Demon Lord, an ecchi anime released in July 2018. It follows the story of Takuma Sakamoto, a shut-in gamer who is the strongest player in the MMORPG, Cross Reverie, and is known as the Demon King Diablo.

However, he is mistakenly summoned to another world resembling that of Cross Reverie and his appearance also resembles to his game avatar.

He is summoned by two girls; a petite Pantherian and a busty Elf, and as they cast an Enslavement spell on Diablo to make him their slave, the spell is reflected due to his “magic reflect” ability and the two girls become his slaves instead.

As Takuma tries to find a way to break the spell and free the two girls, the trio embarks on an adventure together.

Another example is Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World, an anime series that follows the story of Subaru Natsuki, a shut-in NEET who is suddenly summoned to another world.

He is then saved by a mysterious silver-haired girl and is tasked with making a contract with the Demon Lord of the Kingdom of Lugnica in exchange for his protection.

However, Subaru is unable to fulfill his task, causing him to be labeled as an enemy of the kingdom.

He then sets out on a quest to save the kingdom from the Demons and prove his worth.

Both of these anime series demonstrates how not to summon a demon lord and present the consequences of making a mistake.

They serve as a reminder to be cautious when dealing with powerful entities, as the consequences can be dire.

The Devil Is A Part-Timer! (2013)

At first, I thought it was going to be a typical harem anime with a bunch of girls fighting over the main guy Maou, but it surprised me with its unique take on relationships.

The author, Wagahara, clearly knows how to play with our hearts and took us on a wild ride with only one final girl.

Can you believe that? But honestly, I’m not even mad about it because this show had so much more to offer than just love interests.

The concept of demons and fantasy mixed with comedy was perfectly executed, and I found myself laughing out loud at every turn. The battles were intense and kept me on the edge of my seat.

The plot twists and turns were so unexpected, and I was spellbound throughout the whole thing.

But what really stood out to me were the daily tasks that the characters had to do, which were shown as hilarious jokes.

I mean, who would have thought that a Satanic King would be working part-time at a café? And let’s not forget the realization that the corporate world is more powerful than an emperor!

Overall, “The Devil Is A Part-Timer” is an anime that has it all – fantasy, comedy, and a dash of romance. It’s a great mix of genres that leaves you wanting more.

So, if you’re into demon anime with a twist, then this is definitely one to check out. Trust me, you won’t regret it!

Log Horizon (2014 – 2015)

Log Horizon is an anime that follows Shiroe, a veteran gamer stuck in the virtual reality game Elder Tale after its most recent update.

Unlike other Isekai anime, Shiroe and the other gamers are not looking for a way to return to their world, but instead, adapt to their new world and survive there.

It is an example of reincarnation anime as it features characters becoming part of a new world and having to adjust to the new environment and culture.

The characters must learn how to live in this world and how to overcome the challenges it presents.

Shiroe’s masterful strategy and strategic thinking often helps out the group, but he also must learn to adjust to this new world and the people in it.

By accepting the challenge of adapting to a new world, Shiroe and his fellow players are displaying the idea of reincarnation.

They are not just struggling to survive a new and unfamiliar place, but also learning to grow and develop within that new world, making the most of their new lives.

Death March To The Parallel World Rhapsody (2018)

Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody (2018) is an anime adaptation of the long-volume light novel series published in 2013.

It follows the story of Ichiro Suzuki, a programmer in his thirties who, after becoming tired from work, falls asleep and wakes up in a fantasy world comprised of all the games that he had been debugging in the real world.

After being attacked by an army of lizardmen, Ichiro casts a powerful spell that wipes out the army and boosts his level to 310, making him incredibly powerful.

Like That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, Death March To The Parallel World Rhapsody features an overpowered main character and is set in a fantasy world.

However, instead of having to die or fall into a strange ritual, Ichiro is transported to the world of the games that he often works on.

The difference between the two is that Death March To The Parallel World Rhapsody focuses more on exploration and world-building rather than setting out to accomplish particular goals.

Thus, this anime is an ideal choice for fans of the Isekai genre who are interested in the journey rather than the destination.

KonoSuba (2016 – 2017)

KonoSuba and slime have a few similarities and differences. Both KonoSuba and slime involve a new world, filled with exciting and hilarious adventures.

Additionally, both feature a protagonist who is trying to defeat a villain, the Demon King in KonoSuba and slime trying to defeat enemies.

The biggest difference between the two is that KonoSuba follows the story of Kazuma Satou, a human who is reincarnated in a different world, while slime is a magical creature with no backstory.

KonoSuba also features an array of other characters such as Megumin and Darkness, while slime only has the main protagonist.

KonoSuba is an anime that some anime fans might enjoy, but it’s definitely not for everyone.

The show features uninteresting characters, excessive fan service, and a lack of plot. However, if you can look past those flaws and just want to laugh, KonoSuba might be worth a watch.

While the first season was amusing, I’m not convinced that a second season is necessary or even desirable. With more episodes, the show could risk becoming stale and repetitive.

As with many light novel adaptations, KonoSuba relies heavily on fan service. While the abundance of it might not appeal to everyone, I didn’t find it too distracting or off-putting.

And surprisingly, the female characters’ physical attributes were slightly more realistic than what is typically seen in anime.

I have to give the animators credit for that, even though it’s a sad statement about the anime industry as a whole.

The plot revolves around a teenage otaku who dies in his own world and is reborn in a fantasy world resembling an MMORPG.

He meets Aqua, a blue-haired goddess with a reality TV star personality, who sends him to this new world.

The catch is that he can only bring one thing with him, and he chooses Aqua. This leads to some comedic moments between the two characters, but it’s definitely not the most original setup.

RE: Zero – Starting Life In Another World (2016 – 2021)

After leaving a convenience store one day, Subaru Natsuki, a Japanese high school student in a tracksuit, is transported to a parallel world without any explanation. In this new world, Subaru quickly finds himself attacked by a band of bandits, but is saved by a silver-haired half-elf named Satella and her companion, Puck. Grateful for their help, Subaru agrees to help them recover a stolen insignia.

However, their mission is cut short as they are suddenly killed. Subaru finds himself waking up in his bed and quickly realizing that every time he dies, he is granted a new life and an opportunity to save himself and his friends.

This is how Subaru discovers his unique ability to reset time, allowing him to pick the best situation through trial and error. With this newfound power, Subaru embarks on a quest to help Emilia, a half-elf he fell head over heels for, ascend the throne as the next queen.

Our main dude, Subaru, goes through different lives to save Emilia and the others. The way he tries to change events by convincing people is interesting, but here’s the catch – he’s the only one who remembers the past lives, and he can’t tell anyone about it without dying. Yikes! Plus, when he respawns, his friends don’t remember him.

The first arc is pretty dope, but then we get to the second arc, and that’s when things get weird. We get introduced to these twin maids, Rem and Ram.

Their poses and behaviour are all suggestive, but then they act completely different when they matter.

Overall, Re:Zero is an isekai anime with a deep premise, charming cast, and tormenting world. Subaru’s journey is full of pain, suffering and love, as he uses his power to help Emilia ascend the throne.

Is It Wrong To Try To Pick Up Girls In A Dungeon (2015 – )

Is It Wrong To Try To Pick Up Girls In A Dungeon? is a thrilling fantasy anime that will transport you to a new world.

The series focuses on Bell Cranel, a young man who is determined to become the greatest adventurer of all time.

The main character, Bell Cranel, is on a mission to become the best adventurer in the city of Orario, which is filled with monsters and adventurers seeking glory.

Bell is joined by his goddess, Hestia, who may have a childlike appearance and attitude, but she’s packing some serious heat in the cleavage department!

The show is packed with ecchi humor and plenty of fan-service shots of Hestia, which can be a bit distracting, but there are also moments where she shows her true strength and godly powers.

The world-building in this show is top-notch, with the gods having given up their heavenly powers to create familia of adventurers to explore the dungeons.

Bell’s journey is driven by his desire to impress Aiz Wallenstein, the girl of his dreams, who spends most of the show saving his butt!

While the title might suggest that the show is all about Bell trying to pick up girls, it’s actually more about his personal growth and development as he becomes a better adventurer.

The show features other relevant gods, like the beautiful and sinister Freya and the flat-chested Loki, who is jealous of Hestia’s ample bosom.

There’s also Hephaestus, who is the only female character not blatantly sexualized, and she plays a key role in forging a new weapon for Bell.

The show is filled with thrilling battles and exciting adventures, and it’s definitely worth checking out if you’re a fan of the isekai genre.

Watching him grow as a character and achieve his goals is what drives the story forward. Is It Wrong To Try To Pick Up Girls In A Dungeon? has everything that a fan of the isekai genre could want: character development, romance, thrilling battles and of course, adventure!

No Game No Life (2014)

The series follows Sora and Shiro, two siblings who are total gaming legends with no life outside of gaming. These two are transported to a new world called Disboard, where games rule everything, and they set out to conquer this bizarre world and challenge the God of Games.

Now, this anime is classified as an isekai, where the protagonist is transported to a new world where their gaming skills are the ultimate talent. Sora and Shiro are able to control multiple characters and beat anyone without breaking a sweat.

The games they play in Disboard may not make use of the rules and metagame of conventional games like poker or chess, but the series manages to turn the ridiculous into a tense battle unlike any other anime out there.

No Game No Life is known for pioneering a genre of extreme gambling that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats. The series combines gaming and fantasy in a way that keeps viewers engaged, and it’s dope how the games they play are the law in this new world.

The series has even been adapted into a prequel movie called No Game No Life: Zero.

However, the show falls short in its attempt to be clever because it repeatedly stacks the deck in Sora’s favor. Disboard has rules, and cheating is not allowed, but humans cannot use magic and cannot easily identify cheating.

Moreover, the qualification for identifying cheating is stringent as the player has to explain exactly how the opponent is cheating. That’s some sneaky shit!

The show’s portrayal of Sora as an arrogant, cocksure lout and Shiro as an emotionless loli type can be a turn-off for some viewers. The abuse and humiliation that Stephanie endures at the hands of Blank can be intended to be humorous, but it’s not for everyone.

Overall, No Game No Life is a unique anime that combines gaming and fantasy in a way that keeps viewers invested. The series manages to create a tense battle that keeps viewers engaged, and the gambling aspect is dope as hell.

However, the repeated stacking of the deck in Sora’s favor and the portrayal of Stephanie as a naive and gullible character may not be everyone’s cup of tea.

Still, if you’re into anime with badass female characters, you gotta check this one out!

My Life as Inukai-san’s Dog

Inukai-san’s puppy, Pochita, wakes up in her home cold and confused, having no memory of how he got there.

She takes care of him, naming him Pochita and starting to undress in order to bathe him.

Pochita is surprised but captivated by Inukai’s kindness, and when he catches a glimpse of himself in the mirror, he discovers that he has turned into a dog!

Now, let me tell you right off the bat that this anime is not for everyone, especially those who are not into ecchi and comedy genres.

But if you’re looking for an anime with some naughty scenes and hilarious moments, then this might be for you.

The story revolves around a high school boy who wakes up one day to find himself in the body of a dog.

Yep, you heard that right. He is then taken in by his crush, Karen Inukai, who names him Pochita.

Karen is the ideal dog owner, and Pochita is living the life with her. But things are not what they seem, as Pochita soon finds out that Karen has some secrets of her own.

Now, the protagonist would much rather be Karen’s dog than be himself, and who can blame him?

Karen is the perfect dog owner, putting Pochita before everyone else, even herself. But there’s another character, Mike Nekotani, who is even better than Karen.

Mike is scared of dogs, but ironically, his name includes the word for cat. He would make the perfect owner for Pochita, who is just a small corgi.

Despite the lackluster plot and characters, the anime does have some redeeming qualities. The animation is decent, and the humor can be amusing at times. However, be warned that there are ecchi scenes that may be off-putting for some viewers.

Overall, My Life as Inukai-san’s Dog may not be the best anime out there, but it does have its moments. Karen Inukai may not be the ideal crush the protagonist thought she was, but she is certainly the ideal dog owner. And while Mike Nekotani may be scared of dogs, he would make the perfect owner for Pochita. So, if you’re in the mood for some ecchi comedy with a unique twist, give this anime a try!
